Connecting Your robot using Bluetooth low energy

Launching Gizmo Robot Extension

1. Click on the link below to open Scratch. The end of the URL should be robotdemo.

2. Scroll down to the PRG Microbit Robot Blocks Category.

At first the status indicator will show an orange exclamation point ( ! ) which means the robot is not connected.

3. Click on the Connect Robot button.

If you are on a Mac or Windows computer the website will ask you for the Gizmo Robot Extension ID. It is a long string of characters that tells Chrome which extension to connect to. You can copy it from chrome://extensions.

Press 'OK'

4. The Gizmo Robot Extension app will launch and it should already be on the BT / USB tab.

Connecting robot to Gizmo Robot Extension

Bluetooth

Make sure your robot is on.

Click Refresh Ports.

Look for an item named SCRATCH_MICROBOT or something similar in the dropdown menu.

When you find the device, press Connect.

Note: It may take a minute for your device to appear. You can speed this up by pairing the device with your computer first.

USB

Make sure your robot is plugged into your computer.

Click Refresh Ports

Look for an item with the words BBC micro:bit or, on Windows computers USB Serial Device.

7. As the robot is attempting to connect the button will display Connecting… When it is successful, the button will display Disconnect.

8. Scroll down to the PRG Microbit Robot Blocks Category.

Now the status indicator should be a green checkmark.

Your robot is ready to be programmed!
